In the computer game Phoning Home, you take on the role of ION, a young exploration unit on a quest to capture natural resources. Your ship is nearly fully damaged as you crash land on an alien planet. In addition to having to figure out how to survive in this weird, dangerous new world, you also need to figure out how to get in touch with your home planet in order to ask for assistance.
As you set out to explore your new home, the A.I. of the spacecraft is your lone companion. You encounter ANI, a female service unit that is little and stranded, along the way. ANI, despite being little insane, turns out to be a useful tool, and it quickly becomes apparent that there is no escape without her. So, on a world where even the laws of nature seem to not apply, the two of you set out on an adventure that has never been done before.
